Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, Houdini, Nuke, and related software. Experience with Unreal Engine is a plus but not a deal-breaker.
In-depth knowledge of CGI techniques, including modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, and compositing. Any scripting skills are a bonus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome technical challenges.
Strong leadership abilities, with experience mentoring and managing a team of artists.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

We are looking for a Production Accountant with extensive experience in the VFX industry, particularly in managing tax credits and costing out bids for projects. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of financial processes related to VFX production. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments within the organization.

Work From Home:

This is a WFH role. All potential candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. Ideal candidate will be residents of either Ontario or British Columbia. 

Tax Credits:

Navigate and optimize tax credit incentives available in the Canadian VFX industry.
Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and documentation requirements.
Collaborate with legal and finance teams to maximize tax credit benefits.

Bidding new jobs:
Work closely with production teams to prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for VFX projects.
Analyze project requirements, assess resource needs, and evaluate production timelines.
Develop costing strategies to enhance project profitability.
Financial Reporting:

Generate financial reports and analyses to support decision-making processes.
Provide regular updates on project financial performance and potential cost overruns.
Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in the development of project budgets and forecasts.
Monitor project expenditures and variance analysis against budgeted figures.
Identify areas for cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
Collaboration and Communication:

Liaise with various departments, to gather necessary information and ensure alignment on financial objectives.
Communicate financial information and project schedules effectively to various stakeholders.



Job Requirements

Extensive experience working closely with a Senior Production management and other stakeholders to build and cost out bids for all shows and help forecast basic resource plans.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred or extensive industry experience in the role..
CPA designation or equivalent qualification is preferred or working towards your designation.
Proven experience as a Production Accountant in the VFX industry.
In-depth knowledge of tax credits and incentives related to film and television production in Canada.
Strong proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Description
  •  Work closely with the studio leads and client throughout bidding process, including shot breakdowns, and show planning.

  • Manage ongoing project re-bids as needed.

  •  Manage the project budget to meet the established profit goals

  • Lead the production of an entire project within studio standards, delivering on schedule and within the budget.

  • Report progress of budget and schedule to senior managers via weekly status reports and bi-weekly cost reports.

  • Track project costs and delivery schedules.

  •  Supervise Digital Production Manager(s) and Coordinators through creation and revision of overall project schedules.

  •  Oversee and monitor staff on projects, assigning personnel to shots, and allocating resources as needed.

  • Ensure dailies and shot reviews run efficiently and manage weekly production meetings.

  •  Deliver regular reports on project status of projects.

  •  Communicate notes from client meetings to VFX Supervisor and creative leads.



Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in film, art, communications or related field

  • 5+ years’ experience in VFX production for a feature film 

  • Experience managing a large crew (30+ employees).

  • Expert knowledge of visual effects post-production techniques and terminology.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills and ability to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner while working within a deadline-driven environment.

  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  •  Maturity to manage sensitive and confidential materials.

  • Solid leadership skills with demonstrated ability to calmly and effectively manage a crew, while negotiating deadlines pressures of production.

  •  Ability to schedule and analyze production data.
